Drug Interactions
According to the FDA, general drug interaction studies
have yet to be performed. Furthermore, studies that assess the use of Depocyt
and other chemotherapy medications simultaneously has not been researched. It
has been determined that co-administration of Depocyt and cytotoxic medications
could intensify neurotoxicity.
Adverse Reactions
The most prominent adverse effect that has been present in all studies is chemical arachnoiditis. Chemical arachnoiditis is the condition in which there is inflammation of the arachnoid (one of the meninges). It can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, and fever. If this condition is not treated, it can result in death. Other adverse reactions with high incidence may include headache NOS (idiopathic headache), weakness, confusion, nausea, and fatigue.
